Brake driver awareness program

The Brake Driver Awareness Course has been formally recognised by the Queensland Studies Authority through awarding students one QCE point when they successfully complete the eight part Brake course. Last year more than students boosted their academic entry scores. Brake now has over 50 schools participating in the innovative Driver Education courses. The BRAKE program addresses this thinking component of driving. The program is NOT a driver-education program, meaning that it does not teach a novice driver to drive and does not teach the road rules. The parent and/or a competent driving instructor should teach these skills of driving. The B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Pro-Active Driving School is a free, defensive driving program. The school is designed for teenagers, ages ( in NC) who already have a learner’s permit or driver’s license and have at least 30 hours of driving experience. View Schedule.

BRAKE has developed a parent/carers program which can be provided to the school at no charge. The BRAKE Driver Awareness Program was developed with schools in mind. The program is constructed and presented in a way that, with in-service training provided by BRAKE, teachers within schools can facilitate the program. The Brake Driver Awareness is an eight-part high school training program to educate novice drivers about the risks they will face as road users. Brake is approved by Queensland Curriculum Assessment Authority and student who complete the Brake Driver Awareness course, are eligible for an extra QCE point.
